LITTLE WHITE DRESS

Hey, so now that it looks like the warm weather is sticking around for good, I've been doing quite a bit of shopping to develop the perfect spring-turned-summer wardrobe. While style is of course a priority, NYC can get seriously hot and sweaty, so I've been opting for a lot of light colors, breathable fabrics, and flowy fits. The joy of being 5'1 is that I can wear tunics and longer shirts as dresses, which makes staying cool even easier.

Please note: this look was shot pre-LA, aka BEFORE going blonder and getting a little help with my dry hair.

Excuse the sloppiness, this was a true wake-up-and-go kind of day!

Today's "dress" is a tunic from Zara, which they styled online as a dress but had on a mannequin in stores as a shirt. I love the unique eyelet cutouts and the large statement buttons, and the length fits my frame perfectly. I could totally see myself wearing this sans-belt as a swimsuit coverup at the beach, and I also think trying out some statement belts in place of the plain white one could be a fun way to change up the look. All in all, a great addition to my summer staples. Plus, I've been tan (for me) recently, so being able to wear white without looking too washed out feels like a major win.

To accessorize the look, I threw on this woven bag from American Eagle. I personally love AE, but I do like that this piece looks like it might be from somewhere a little more boho and unique. They gifted me this bag and I've been rocking it ever since, and now that woven bags are a predicted trend for summer 2018, I'm even more glad to have it in my closet. It does fit a ton, but it's too small for my camera, so I also carried around this cute patterned Free People cloth shopping bag, which actually looked cute with the look. Go figure.

I wasn't familiar with the jewelry line Pamela Love until I came across her pieces at a recent sample sale. Her necklaces are stunning, and I've been wearing this trio paired with almost every outfit since I picked them up. I've never been someone to regularly wear a lot of jewelry, but in a world where I don't have an endless shopping budget, picking up an earring or ring can really help to diversify your wardrobe without breaking the bank. That said, these pieces are quite pricey (we love a sample sale discount!), and although they aren't on the Pamela Love site anymore, there are similar pieces from the line here and here.

Another great way to diversify your summer wardrobe? Opt for fun shoes to dress up simple looks! This bright red loafer by Nine West is so unique, and the perforations, espadrille detail, and rubber sole make them unlike anything I've ever worn before. They also come in light gold and off white, and while I never thought I'd call something so wild a statement shoe, I'm debating picking up a second pair. NYC isn't exactly the place to bum around in flip flops, so it's worth it to have some stylish summer footwear on hand!

Hope you guys enjoyed this little everyday ensemble. I'm trying to do an even amount of beauty and style on here as per an Instagram poll where you lovely people tied asking for both, so if there's anything in particular you're interested in me featuring, let me know! I have a few more LA OOTDs to post, but just loving my city at the moment, so thought I'd throw this New York post into the mix!
