POSTCARD FROM L.A.

Hey, so I'm back in New York City after an incredible week in Los Angeles. It was my first time on the West Coast, and I finally get the hype: the weather, the vibes, the picture-perfect coffee shops on every corner. It's an amazing place, and I'll definitely be back soon. Thanks to my friend Melissa for having me, and if you haven't checked out her blog, be sure to head over there next!

Til then, I have dozens (okay, hundreds) of photos to show for all the fun I had. I asked on my Instagram which look you wanted to see first, and this chic midi dress won, so I'm here to share all the details. I wore this for my first day in Pasadena, just to walk around, shop a bit and take some photos. It looked dressy, but it felt breezy and comfortable, and I actually received compliments all day long!

This dress is the Frankie Frill Floral Dress by Bardot, one of the brands I've been absolutely obsessing over lately. At $150, it's not exactly a cheap thrill (although it is on sale at the moment for $75!), but the quality and cut are incredible, and it's one of the most unique dresses I own. Because it's a little loose around my waist, I belted it with this stunning suede belt by Maje. Unfortunately, it's only available in black and white now, but I scored this dusty pink version at a sample sale last month, and it's been my go-to for completing looks ever since.

To compliment the pattern of the dress, I kept things simple with the rest of my accessories via this straw purse gifted to me by American Eagle. If you've been on Instagram at all in the past few months, you'd know that straw, woven, and wicker bags are huge this season. This one costs just $40, and because it's straw not wicker, it isn't super stiff, meaning I can fit way more inside than I can with my harder wicker bags. I strongly recommend it for anyone looking to try out the trend this summer—they just took it off the site, but I've seen it in tones of AE stores, and it comes in a really unique black and white version online as well. I've noticed them take it down and put it up before, so if it reappears I'll definitely try linking it again.

If you're looking for a good summer sandal, this pair by Katy Perry (I know!) is not only adorable, but very comfortable. I walked around for days in them during my trip, and never once felt my feet hurting. I'm always on the hunt for a good tan summer sandal, and while the past few years I've played it safe with low block heels and wedges, this pair feels like a baby-step transition back to the true high heels I want to start getting used to again. I'm only 5'1, so your girl is very dependent on her shoes for added height!

Hard to see, but my monogram necklace is by Anthropologie. Tan is by the sun, if you can believe it! Praying it lasts.

Hope you guys are willing to indulge me when it comes to going totally overboard with posting my LA trip photos. I've got maybe three or four more looks to share with you guys, but I plan to add in some beauty and other misc posts in between so you won't get sick of them. I'll definitely be posting another poll soon for which look you'd like to see next, so be sure to follow me on Instagram to stay updated!
