GO-TO OFFICE OOTD

When you're working full time for a while, you're guaranteed to develop a sort of "work uniform," whether intentionally because you've curated an office-appropros wardrobe, or out of habit from reaching for the same go-to pieces every week. It's totally normal, and a good understanding of outfits that work well in your day-to-day work life allows for one less thing to think about in the morning.

For me, my winter work wardrobe has two looks: black jeans and a sweater for days where I'm not leaving my desk, and a skirt/boots/top/tights combo when I'm meeting with brands, going to events, or attending more important meetings. Today, I had a crazy busy day running around NYC, so after a blowout party at DryBar and prior to a chicken sandwich from Umami Burger, I snapped some photos of this go-to, never-fails work look.

This outfit is super simple, but this particular take on it adds lots of color, pattern, and texture to make things more interesting. My sweatshirt-style top is from Bershka, and I love the way the feather detailing on the sleeves adds a more office-friendly touch to an otherwise cozy sweatshirt. The dark green color also elevates the piece, and to jazz it up a bit more I tucked it into this embroidered skirt by Lucy Paris. I bought this skirt at random, and am sad to say it's no longer sold, but a similar embroidered skirt by Lucy Paris is on sale right now at Bloomingdales! If you're the right sizes, I also see this skirt sold a ton of times on Poshmark, an app I'm obsessed with for reselling clothes, makeup and more.

On my legs I've just got some simple black tights and my over-the-knee boots by Chinese Laundry. These were only $100 and are seriously so comfortable, I have to stop myself from wearing them every day. Some days I pull them up super high for that OTK look, but other days I wear them pushed down as slouchy knee-highs, and I love that versatility.

Here's a detail shot so you can check out all the textures going on, between the feathered sleeves, embroidered skirt, and this fun furry pom pom I clipped onto my Pop & Suki Bigger Camera Bag to bring out the red in the skirt. I don't always love big poms like this, but on a day like this where I'm really experimenting and keeping these risks grounded with simple silhouettes, it's a fun way to shake things up!

Hope you enjoyed this quick workwear OOTD! Let me know what kinds of content you guys are wanting from the blog in 2018.
