You guessed it - I'm not at Coachella. But just because I'm part of #NoChella2K17 doesn't mean I won't be partaking in all the awesome festival-inspired styles!

Over the weekend, I went to one of my favorite DC venues, Echostage, to see my friend Feddy (a.k.a. Falzon) open up for major DJ duo Dada Life. Because I knew I'd be keeping my outfit simple (#AllBlackEverything), I thought spicing up my hair could be a fun way to shake up my look.

God bless my best friend Jojo, because she is the only one wild and sweet enough to entertain my crazy creative side. When I asked her to help me figure out a hairstyle, she came right over, and I honestly love the look we threw together. These embellished braids are so easy and festive, and getting the look took us fifteen minutes, tops.

Fortunately, I always have a weird arsenal of beauty and craft supplies on hand for emergency DIY sessions. I grabbed these packets of glitter from Forever 21 a few months back (the holo packaging totally sold me), and it looks like Charlotte Rouse has some similar options for under $5! My hair rings were actually from Claires, but you can find similar styles right now at pretty much any trendy Instagram boutique, like these silver rings from ASOS.

As far as instructions on how to get the look yourself, follow these steps and get your glitter on (hover over images for directions)!

I know the thought of applying Vaseline to your hair might seem terrifying, but keep in mind that this is a very festive look, and not an everyday go-to! I washed my hair after the night's activities to prevent waking up a greaseball, and I didn't have any issues with my hair looking good post-braids!

Wishing you good vibes and unicorn hair ever after!
