If we're lucky, any day now you'll see a post about a brand-new, must-have coat I'm obsessed with. Unfortunately, today's post brings us no such luck.
Since moving to NYC, I've been on the hunt for the perfect full-length, warm, black coat to last me all winter long and keep my cozy without feeling like a marshmallow. Heavy coats are expensive, though, and I've been hesitant to take the plunge and splurge on anything I don't 100% adore. To tide me over, I've got this puffy Prada number on loan from my stylish mom—it's over 20 years old, so let's call it vintage, shall we?
On this particular day, I donned my loaned coat for a chilly night in Union Square. This is the most similar Prada coat I can find on the market right now, but a more similar dupe shapewise would be this pick by Mackage. Over top, I'm wearing my tried and true, everyday fall and winter favorite: the blanket scarf.
I wear my blanket scarf with everything, and it's always the perfect pop of pattern for an all-black look on dreary days. On my legs,I'm rocking these super unique but simple cropped jeans by Free People, featuring a button front and a raw edge hem with slits up the center. I don't own any other denim quite like these, and their cropped cut is actually perfect for my 5'1" frame. A major great find for me.
Since the slits in the jeans draw the eye down, I thought I'd opt for some fun footwear, namely these ankle boots from Aldo with a scuba material upper and a lucite block heel. I bought these full price, but they're now on sale, and I strongly recommend them for a comfortable everyday boot with a fun touch. My success with these has me eying this glammed up version, also from Aldo, with a metal heel and some serious embellishments.
All in all, not a groundbreaking outfit, but it's a pretty good picture of what I wear on a daily basis. Simple looks with fun accents are easy to put together and make getting ready a breeze, and a great coat and statement scarf are key for pulling an outfit together—not to mention keeping warm!
