TWO WEEKS OF TRIPS

Hey, so if it seems like I’ve been totally MIA the past few weeks, here’s why: I was.

Two weeks ago, I enjoyed a family vacation in Florida, and last week I headed down to Washington, DC (my second home!) with DHC Skincare to learn a little more about all the fabulous stuff they’ve got launching in the next few months. Spoiler Alert: if you haven't tried their Cleansing Oil, it's a must.

While I intended to spend my trips detoxing, I of course ended up being extra and snapping some photos, so even though they’re iPhone quality—which you know breaks my heart to post here—I thought you’d enjoy a little catch-up, including links to some of the outfits I wore that I’ve been getting a ton of questions on.

A lot of people were asking about this cute one-piece I suited up in while in Florida—and credit where credit is due, it’s borrowed from my sister—but it’s unfortunately nowhere to be found online, as I bought it last year. Other cute banana leaf printed one-piece swimsuits: this and this by Magicsuit from Lord and Taylor, and this from Forever 21 which features cute lace-up side details, plus a similar super-low back to the one in my photo.

Another Florida look you guys liked was inspired by my new love of tube tops. I just recently found the best strapless bra on earth, so I’ve been wearing them a ton. The all-pink ensemble a very sunburnt me wore to dinner, featuring an $8 tube top from Forever 21 (available online only for plus size, but super similar here from Brandy Melville) plus these very beachy and cool trousers from Free People. I’m not normally one to shop at Free People as I find it can be a little overpriced, but I went a little wild on a trip to their Union Square store recently, and I’ve been wearing all of the items like crazy. The second, all-blue look consists of the same ingredients: a tube top from Forever 21, this time smocked, and pants from Free People, this time flowy and meant for sleep. I fully intend to stock up on these for summer, as I feel like they’re the perfect lightweight pant to serve as a beach-coverup-slash-errand-running go-to. (Side note: in the photo on the left, my sister is wearing a romper of mine, from Aritzia!)

Finally, my favorite look from Florida: this gorgeous two-piece set gifted to me by the lovely Aerie team. Worn with an American Eagle straw bag coming soon to the site, this fab cornflower blue smocked tube top and midi skirt set fully restored my faith in the high-low skirt look done right. Anyone who knows me would agree that this likely wouldn’t be my first pick at AE, but once I put it on I couldn’t have been more excited to wear it—it’s seriously fun and unique, while still much comfier than most “nice” outfits I could choose for a summer-y dinner.

In DC, I bundled up a bit more than in Florida, but I still had one or two cute outfits I got questions on. My Zara teddy bear coat is long gone—not surprised it sold out: please note the baby pink lining—but this Kenneth Cole textured coat has a similar shape, texture and shade, minus the pink. The real showstopper in this look is this sweater from—swear to God—TARGET that I’m obsessed with and purchased in two colors. I think it’s so fun and frilly, but still a great pick for my work life when paired with all-black basics. Target’s Who What Wear line is actually super chic and great value for money. I follow their Instagram and always browse their new releases; they’ve never dropped a new line that I haven’t wanted something from!

My night-out outfit was basically a last-ditch effort to wear this velvet midi-dress (out of season, similar here) before the cold weather disappeared for good, and I actually ended up loving the look. If you remember my belted slip dress look from an earlier post, you know I think it’s a great shape for hourglass and pear-shaped bodies, and it’s definitely a go-to look for me when I don’t know what to wear. I wore my favorite Gucci belt (I really need a fresh one for summer, please convince me to buy the pink) and these stunning Ferragamo heels I bought at the Gilt Sample Sale some time in November. They’re black patent leather, nude mesh, and pink detailing, so basically everything a girl could ever as for.

To compliment both of my DC looks, I wore my brand new Pop and Suki Bigger Camera Bag in Lily—a pebbled white—which was a birthday gift my sisters chipped in on. I’m utterly obsessed: you guys know I’m a Pop and Suki brand ambassador, but I’ve been talking about them for ages, and this is my first time trying the pebbled leather instead of the smooth. I like it even better since it’s easier to clean, and to make this bag even more summer-ready, I picked up the gold chain strap to switch to for night-out looks. Such a small change totally transforms the bag, and now I’m excited to try it out on all three of my P&S bags. If you didn’t know, P&S have a ton of different straps from scalloped to fanny-pack to backpack, which makes their already personalized bags even more customizable.

Apologies again for the iPhone quality, but I hope this helped out those who were curious about some of the pieces I was wearing! More consistent posting coming to a blog near you (this one) very soon!
