THE BEST HAIR ACCESSORIES

Despite the fact that I had not a single hair accessory at the start of 2019, I've managed to amass a borderline obscene amount of sparkly hair clips. I can't help it, I'm obsessed! As someone who pretty much only wears her hair down, I rarely get to partake in hair trends like cool braids, buns, or ponytails, so hair accessories finally feel like a niche I can get into. I purchased a ton of barrettes and such for Fashion Week, and a lot of people really loved my look, so I've also been gifted quite a few hair accessories since. I couldn't possibly show you every single bedazzled bobby pin in my collection, but I decided to pick out a few specific trends and link to some of my ultimate favorite clips. You don't have to go overboard like I do, but you'd be surprised how much a head of sparkly clips will brighten up your day.

RAINBOW COLORS

If you told me last summer that I'd be packing a bevy of colorful barrettes to bring to the beach in 2019, I would've laughed in your face. Now, I'm totally obsessed with the idea, and I can't wait to jazz up my beach hair with some rainbow accessories. The Simply Jules x Scünci collaboration has some of my favorite pieces for this trend, including the above gold bobby pin with tassels of rainbow stones.

This collection also includes a rainbow head wrap, which is basically a chain of rainbow stones with two gold bobby pins on each end, that at first I didn't know how to style. I used it in my sister's hair to jazz up a brunch look along with a simple gold clip, and she got compliments all day long!

PEARLS

TBH, this was the only hair accessory trend I didn't like at first. For some reason, pearls have always seemed a little stuffy to me, and I wasn't sure if I would look weirdly formal wearing a completely pearlized clip. However, I managed to snag this set of three different pearl barrettes on Amazon for under $3 (I know!), and I'm finding it hard to reach for anything else. They're so good! Fair warning if you order off Amazon, though: my clips took about a month to arrive. But for $3, it was worth the wait.

Tortoise shell, stone, agate, quartz...hair accessories with color and texture just feel so special. And unlike collecting a myriad of pearl barrettes, every single stone-inspired piece will look different from the rest of your collection. This set of stone barrettes is an easy transitional piece for someone who want to try out hair clips without making too much of a dramatic statement, but if you ask me, the more the merrier.

BLING

The clip that started it all! I knew I wanted to wear the DAMN clip from Justine Marjan's Kitsch collaboration to fashion week, and thus my hair accessory obsession was born. If you aren't looking to bedazzle an entire head of hair like I did, a single word clip is a great way to make a major statement with minor effort.
